Laser Assisted In-situ Keratomileusis or LASIK requires a few criteria. Your Ophthalmologist will be able to guide you further. The basic criteria are :
- Age 19 years or older.
- Stable Refraction ( glasses power) for more than a year
- You should not be pregnant or nursing as these conditions might change the measured Refraction of the Eye. It is best to wait for 6 months after delivery to get Lasik done.
- Good general health. Lasik may not be recommended for patients with Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and Lupus.
Phacoemulsification Surgery, commonly known as laser surgery for cataracts is done through 2.2 mm self-sealing incision. Absence of any injection near the eye makes the patient feel very comfortable and is discharged without any pad and bandage.
Most of the time this condition is detected only upon Routine Eye Examination since there are hardly ever symptoms till very late. Hence all patients at our hospital / clinic above 40 years of age are screened for the same. The symptoms of this disease may vary from no Symptoms to Eye ache, Headache, red painful Eye and blurred vision. Sometimes early Glaucoma can cause frequent change in spectacles power.
