Dengue Shock Syndrome is a very critical stage of Dengue infection. Dengue Fever forces Platelet counts (a component of blood) to reduce. In some severe cases, the platelet counts drop so low that they are no longer able to carry on their normal functions, i.e. prevention of bleeding. In such cases, blood (plasma) oozes out of the blood vessels. This loss of blood volume leads to reduced Blood Pressure. Extremely low Blood Pressure drives less blood into different organs and ultimately results in Multi-organ Failure.
DSS Predictor can help determine if a Dengue Patient is at risk of Dengue Shock Syndrome or not.
