After struggling to greenlight an early Johnson & Johnson vaccination program for healthcare workers in South Africa, the country briefly banned the vaccine due to cases of rare blood clots. However, South Africa has decided to resume vaccination, as have regulators in European Union. The African nation is yet to report any cases of blood clots.
The Government recently opened up vaccination to all adults in the wake of the world’s worst COVID surge. Anyone above the age of 18 can register for their shots on the Aarogya Setu app or CoWin platform from April 28th, and get vaccinated from May 1st.
