On Wednesday, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced that schools in Mumbai will be set to reopen for in-person classes from October 4th. “We are reopening schools for classes 8 to 12 in Mumbai with effect from October 4. We will make a decision for the rest of the classes in November. All Covid-19 SOPs issued by the government will be implemented,” BMC Commissioner Iqbal Chahal said. The safety of students has been taken into account by allowing parents to give consent for their children to attend physical classes. Though rural areas of Maharashtra have resumed offline schooling, major cities like Mumbai and Pune have kept their classrooms shut since the second wave.
