A new study found that after administering 2 doses of Covishield, antibodies against the deadly Delta variant of COVID-19 were not created in 16.1% of samples. The percentage goes up to 58.1% in those who had only taken one dose of Covishield. The study was conducted by researchers from the Indian Council of Medical Research and is yet to be peer-reviewed. “Not observed is not equivalent to not present. The levels of neutralising antibodies could be significantly low such that it did not get detected, but it may still be there and protect the person against infection and severe disease…” said Dr. T Jacob John, former head of the department of microbiology at Christian Medical College in Vellore.
