The Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response (IPPPR) convened in Geneva, Switzerland with scathing remarks on the handling of the COVID-19 crisis. It stated that a series of bad decisions allowed COVID-19 to kill at least 3.3 million people so far and ruin the economy. Institutions “failed to protect people” and science-denying leaders eroded public trust in health interventions. “It is due to a myriad of failures, gaps, and delays in preparedness and response,” the panel concluded.
